AN ACT
RELATING TO THE FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT; ASSIGNING PRINCIPAL OFFICES; DIRECTING WHERE CASES IN RIO ARRIBA COUNTY SHALL BE HEARD.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. Section 34-6-4 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1968, Chapter 69, Section 7, as amended) is amended to read:
"34-6-4. JUDGES--FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT.--
A. There shall be eight district judges in the first judicial district.
B. The judges of divisions one, two, three, four, six, seven and eight shall maintain their principal offices in the county seat of Santa Fe county. The judge of division five shall maintain the judge's principal office in the county seat of Rio Arriba county.
C. Cases pending in the district court in Rio Arriba county shall have all hearings and proceedings held at the division five courthouse in the county seat of Rio Arriba county.
D. The provisions of this section shall not prohibit a change of venue pursuant to Section 38-3-3 NMSA 1978."
SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2013.
