AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE SALARIES FOR JUSTICES, JUDGES AND MAGISTRATES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million thirty-eight thousand four hundred seventy dollars ($1,038,470) is appropriated from the general fund to the administrative office of the courts for expenditure in fiscal year 2014 to provide the justices of the supreme court a salary increase to one hundred thirty thousand one hundred forty-three dollars ($130,143) and the chief justice of the supreme court, the chief judge of the court of appeals, judges of the court of appeals, district courts and metropolitan courts and magistrates a salary increase pursuant to Section 34-1-9 NMSA 1978. The salary increase pursuant to this section shall be effective the first full pay period after July 1, 2013. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2014 shall revert to the general fund.
