AN ACT

RELATING TO JUDICIAL STANDARDS; CREATING THE INVESTIGATION AND TRIAL COST REIMBURSEMENT FUND TO BE USED FOR OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE JUDICIAL STANDARDS COMMISSION; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 34, Article 10 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] INVESTIGATION AND TRIAL COST REIMBURSEMENT FUND--CREATED--ADMINISTRATION--PURPOSE.--

          A. The "investigation and trial cost reimbursement fund" is created in the state treasury. The fund consists of reimbursed investigation and trial costs as ordered by the supreme court or the judicial standards commission, other statutory revenues directed to the fund, appropriations, gifts, grants and donations.

          B. Money in the fund is appropriated to the judicial standards commission for operating expenses of the commission.

          C. Payments shall be made from the fund upon warrants drawn by the secretary of finance and administration pursuant to vouchers issued and signed by the judicial standards commission's executive director.

          D. The fund shall not revert at the end of any fiscal year."
