A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FEBRUARY 22, 2013 AS "GIFTED DAY" IN THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, the state of New Mexico has long realized the merits of gifted education and has promoted gifted education strategies from elementary school to the highest levels of academia; and

     WHEREAS, there are more than fourteen thousand gifted students across New Mexico who are represented in all aspects of New Mexico's rich cultural life; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico has long been a leader in science, technology and research, which depend on creative and high-achieving students; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico is a leading state in teaching and respecting gifted students who also have learning or emotional disabilities; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico is a state that celebrates gifted students and their work in research, the arts and academia; and

     WHEREAS, organizations such as the New Mexico association for the gifted and the Albuquerque association for gifted and talented students promote gifted excellence;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 22, 2013 be declared "Gifted Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the senate recognize the New Mexico association for the gifted and the Albuquerque association for gifted and talented students for their efforts in the service of gifted students and their families and teachers; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico association for the gifted and the Albuquerque association for gifted and talented students.
