A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THAT RECOGNITION BE EXTENDED TO THE CAREER TECHNICAL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS OF NEW MEXICO FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE STATE.

 

     WHEREAS, career technical student organizations are an integral and vital component of career technical education and contribute to well-developed high school and technical school curricula providing rigor and relevance for academics, work ethic and patriotism; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations involve an estimated ten thousand students statewide and are located in school districts in skill-based educational programs that include classroom instruction, work-based learning and community services; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations provide leadership development and competitive activities at the local, state, national and international levels; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations have developed effective partnerships with businesses, trade associations and professional organizations; and

     WHEREAS, these student organizations support the economy by preparing students for the workplace, improving employment opportunities and building students' self-esteem and confidence; and

     WHEREAS, through the efforts of New Mexico career technical student organizations, participating students receive the educational enrichment and experiences they need to achieve academic excellence and prepare for careers; and

     WHEREAS, career technical student organizations include New Mexico chapters of the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; the family, career and community leaders of America; HOSA — future health professionals; the future farmers of America; skillsUSA; and the technology student association;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that recognition be extended to the career technical student organizations of New Mexico for their service to New Mexico; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to New Mexico chapters of the business professionals of America; distributive education clubs of America; the family, career and community leaders of America; HOSA — future health professionals; the future farmers of America; skillsUSA; and the technology student association.
