AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE LAND OFFICE TO ASSESS THE FEASIBILITY OF ACQUIRING CERTAIN LANDS FROM THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF GENERATING REVENUE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state land office for expenditure in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 to assess the feasibility of acquiring lands identified by the federal bureau of land management as being subject to disposal for the purpose of generating revenue and to report to the governor and the legislature the office's findings and recommendations. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2015 shall revert to the general fund.

     SECTION 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
