A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO COOPERATE IN ASSESSING THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF USING REFINED METHANE FROM COAL AS A FUEL.

     WHEREAS, methane from coal mines is a lost resource;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department of environment and the economic development department be requested to assess the benefits of refining coal mine methane for use in power plants and report to the appropriate committees of the legislature concerned with the environment and economic development; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of environment and the secretary of economic development.
