AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY FOR RESEARCH BY THE WATER RESOURCES RESEARCH INSTITUTE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million dollars ($2,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 and subsequent fiscal years to support the New Mexico water resources research institute in development and maintenance of statewide water assessment, water policy analysis and faculty and student water research grants at New Mexico's higher education institutions and related water research, including water scarcity research applications, brackish water research, water resiliency research and produced and reused water sources. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
