AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS DEPARTMENT FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF A NATIONWIDE WORK FORCE ASSESSMENT SYSTEM IN PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the workforce solutions department for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 to implement in New Mexico a nationwide work-oriented reading and mathematics assessment system whose examinations would replace, for those work force-bound public high school students who elect to participate in it, the reading and mathematics exit examinations typically required for graduation and that would help those students prepare to enter the work force after graduation. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.
