AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A VARIETY OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT EVENTS AND AN EXHIBIT DOCUMENTING THE PROCESS OF MAKING LEARNING VISIBLE FOR EARLY LEARNERS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2016 to fund coordinated events around the state that offer teachers, early childhood care providers and children and their families opportunities to experience early learners' creativity and competence in learning in diverse educational and cultural settings. As part of the appropriation, the department shall develop a web site, webinars and other resources to support the purposes of this section. The events shall culminate in an exhibit at the state capitol during the next regular legislative session that documents the creativity and learning competence of participating children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2016 shall revert to the general fund.
