A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO COLLEGE OF NURSING FOR EDUCATING NURSES AND PROMOTING THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF NEW MEXICANS FOR SIXTY YEARS AND DECLARING FEBRUARY 13, 2015 "UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO COLLEGE OF NURSING DAY" IN THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, since 1955, the university of New Mexico college of nursing has worked to educate nurses, awarding almost six thousand degrees in nursing; and

     WHEREAS, the university of New Mexico college of nursing is committed to ensuring that New Mexicans have access to quality health care provided by advanced practice nurses by establishing a diverse array of faculty practices and clinical education partnerships; and

     WHEREAS, the university of New Mexico college of nursing's mission is to promote health through the discovery and communication of knowledge to enhance the art and science of nursing through excellence in education, research, scholarship and service; and

     WHEREAS, the university of New Mexico college of nursing has partnered with other state-funded nursing programs across the state to create a common core curriculum in nursing education, transforming the current structure into an efficient and easily accessible baccalaureate program for students;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the faculty and staff of the university of New Mexico college of nursing be recognized for their outstanding work in educating nurses and in promoting health care throughout New Mexico; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 13, 2015 be declared "University of New Mexico College of Nursing Day" in the Senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the dean of the university of New Mexico college of nursing.
