A RESOLUTION

AMENDING THE HOUSE RULES TO PROHIBIT THE CARRYING OF FIREARMS IN THE HOUSE.

 

     WHEREAS, House Rule 24-1 provides that the rules of the house of representatives may be amended by a two-thirds' vote of all the members of the house or by a majority vote of the members of the house upon the recommendation of the house rules and order of business committee;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that a new house rule be adopted to read:

"No person carrying a firearm, except a law enforcement officer or a person holding a valid concealed handgun license in accordance with the Concealed Handgun Carry Act, shall be permitted to enter the house chamber, galleries, lounge, hallways or committee rooms.".
