FOR THE WATER AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE BUREAU OF GEOLOGY AND MINERAL RESOURCES TO STUDY AND MAP THE GROUND WATER AQUIFERS UNDERLYING COLFAX, HARDING, MORA AND UNION COUNTIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million seven hundred twenty-four thousand dollars ($1,724,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and technology for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 and subsequent fiscal years for the bureau of geology and mineral resources to conduct a hydrogeologic study of and map the ground water aquifers underlying Colfax, Harding, Mora and Union counties. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
