AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO FUND HEALTH CAREERS TRAINING IN SOUTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2017 to fund a comprehensive health careers program operated by an entity with at least five years' experience in training youth in southwestern New Mexico to enter health careers and providing training opportunities in a wide range of primary-care-related professions. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2017 shall revert to the general fund.
