AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND SECURITY MEASURES IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2019 and subsequent fiscal years as follows:

                (1) fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000) for training school personnel how to respond to an armed threat or attack on school premises;

                (2) fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000) to contract or employ appropriately trained personnel to provide security on school premises;

                (3) fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000) to purchase, install and maintain security cameras on school premises; and

                (4) fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000) to purchase, install and maintain metal detectors on school premises.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
