Mr. Speaker:

 

    Your TRANSPORTATION, PUBLIC WORKS & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 24

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 1, line 11, after the semicolon, strike the remainder of the line, strike all of lines 12 and 13, strike line 14 up to the semicolon and insert in lieu thereof "REQUIRING A SIGN ON THE BACK OF SCHOOL BUSES THAT SPECIFIES THE PENALTY FOR PASSING A SCHOOL BUS WHEN THE SCHOOL BUS IS STOPPED TO LET STUDENTS ON OR OFF THE BUS".

 

    2. On pages 1 through 3, strike Sections 1 and 2 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof the following:

 

    "SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 22, Article 16 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

 

    "[NEW MATERIAL] BUS SIGNAGE--INFORMATION ABOUT PENALTY FOR PASSING A SCHOOL BUS WHEN STOPPED.--Every school bus shall have signage on the outside back of the bus that warns drivers that it is against the law to pass a school bus when the school bus is stopped to let students on or off the bus and that violation of the law is punishable by a fine of three hundred dollars ($300)."".

 

    3. Renumber the succeeding sections accordingly.,

 

and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
