AN ACT

RELATING TO FAMILIES; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE CHILDREN'S CODE TO REQUIRE THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO WAIVE CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE COPAYMENTS FOR CERTAIN FAMILIES.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Children's Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE--WAIVER OF COPAYMENTS.--The department shall waive any child care assistance copayment required of families whose children are:

          A. three or four years of age; and

          B. enrolled in a child care assistance program that the department has rated, in accordance with department rules, as a "star four" or "star five" child care assistance program."
