SENATE BILL 1, as amended


has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:


    1. On page 11, line 9, strike "quantitive" and insert in lieu thereof "quantitative".


    2. On page 16, strike lines 24 and 25.


    3. Reletter the succeeding subparagraphs accordingly.


    4. On page 28, line 17, strike "sixty-six" and insert in lieu thereof "eighty".


    5. On page 28, line 20, strike "thirty-three" and insert in lieu thereof "sixty".


    6. On page 28, line 22, strike "and".


    7. On page 28, between lines 22 and 23, insert the following new paragraphs:


             "(3) for fiscal year 2022, forty percent of the sum of elementary-junior high units and senior high units as prescribed in Subsection A of this section;


             (4) for fiscal year 2023, twenty percent of the sum of elementary-junior high units and senior high units as prescribed in Subsection A of this section; and".


    8. Renumber the succeeding paragraph accordingly. 



    9. On page 28, line 23, strike "2022" and insert in lieu thereof "2024".


    10. On page 31, line 2, strike "0.0333" and insert in lieu thereof "0.05".


    11. On page 31, line 3, strike "0.0667" and insert in lieu thereof "0.1" and strike "0.1" and insert in lieu thereof "0.15".


    12. On page 32, line 23, strike the closing quotation mark and between lines 23 and 24, insert the following new subsection:


         "D. For purposes of this section, "services" means research-based or evidence-based social, emotional or academic interventions, such as:


             (1) case management, tutoring, reading interventions and after-school programs that are delivered by social workers, counselors, teachers or other professional staff;


             (2) culturally relevant professional and curriculum development, including those necessary to support language acquisition, bilingual and multicultural education;


             (3) additional compensation strategies for high-need schools;


              (4) whole school interventions, including school- based health centers and community schools;


             (5) educational programming intended to improve career and college readiness of at-risk students, including dual or concurrent enrollment, career and technical education, guidance counseling services and coordination with post-secondary institutions; and



             (6) services to engage and support parents and families in the education of students."".


    13. On page 33, line 22, strike "may" and insert in lieu thereof "shall".


    14. On page 34, lines 17 through 21, strike Subsection E in its entirety.


    15. Reletter the succeeding subsection accordingly.


    16. On page 34, strike line 25 and on page 35, strike lines 1 through 9 and insert in lieu thereof:


                  "MEM x 0.11."".


    17. On page 35, strike lines 17 and 18 and insert in lieu thereof "on a reporting date chosen by the department."".


    18. On page 47, line 16, after "teacher", strike the remainder of the line and strike line 17 through "employed".
