AN ACT

RELATING TO CRIME; CREATING THE CRIME OF MAKING A THREAT OF A SCHOOL SHOOTING.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Criminal Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] MAKING A THREAT OF A SCHOOL SHOOTING.--

          A. It is unlawful for a person to make a threat of a school shooting.

          B. Whoever commits making a threat of a school shooting is guilty of a fourth degree felony.

          C. As used in this section, "threat of a school shooting" means communicating one's intention to bring to a school or use at a school a firearm, unless specifically authorized by the school."
