AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR MULTICULTURAL PROGRAMMING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2020 for the following purposes:

                (1) two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) for the Africana studies program to support African American leadership development, community-based engagement, Africana studies development and high school curriculum development;

                (2) two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) for the Chicana-Chicano studies department to support leadership development, community-based engagement, the graduate program and high school curriculum development;

                (3) two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) for the Native American studies department to support leadership development, community-based engagement, the graduate program and high school curriculum development; and

                (4) two hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($225,000) for the southwest Hispanic research institute to support faculty leadership development, research initiatives, publications and scholarship and community-based engagement.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2020 shall revert to the general fund.
