A MEMORIAL

DECLARING FEBRUARY 7, 2019 "PRESBYTERIAN MEDICAL SERVICES FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

     WHEREAS, in 1969, Presbyterian medical services became a private nonprofit corporation; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services designs and delivers quality, accessible, integrated health, education and human services in response to the identified community needs of the multicultural people of the southwest; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services has specialized in the delivery of health, education and human services to residents of New Mexico in remote locations where access to these services is difficult; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services is accredited by the joint commission, is recognized as a federally qualified health center and provides health care services to any and every individual seeking these services regardless of ability to pay; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services has established a strong presence throughout the state, serving eighty-five thousand individual patients in four hundred seventy-two thousand visits annually; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services has become the major New Mexico provider of early childhood development services, with one thousand four hundred fifty-three children and their families served annually in four of New Mexico's counties; and

     WHEREAS, Presbyterian medical services continues to partner with federal, state and local governments and the New Mexico primary care association in efforts to improve the health of New Mexico's population;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Presbyterian medical services be recognized for its ongoing contributions to the improved health of the state's population and for the quality of care it provides while improving access to health care; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 7, 2019 be declared "Presbyterian Medical Services Fiftieth Anniversary Day" in the house of representatives; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the Presbyterian medical services board of directors for distribution to the members of its community guidance councils and its employees.
