A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE NEW MEXICO MEDIATION ASSOCIATION FOR ITS DEDICATION TO EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF MEDIATION.

 

     WHEREAS, mediation is a nonadversarial, voluntary and confidential process in which a neutral third party helps to facilitate discussion of difficult issues and negotiate agreements; and

     WHEREAS, the parties to mediation determine the outcome of the process while mediators facilitate communication and use collaborative problem-solving skills; and

     WHEREAS, parties that engage in mediation are often able to settle disputes before they reach the courts; and

     WHEREAS, the process of mediation can help improve judicial efficiency; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico mediation association is a nonprofit association that promotes mediation as a method of resolving disputes; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico mediation association educates the public regarding the benefits of mediation in New Mexico;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico mediation association be recognized for its dedication to educating the public about the benefits of mediation; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the board of directors of the New Mexico mediation association.
