A MEMORIAL

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 5, 2019 AS "NDI NEW MEXICO DAY" IN THE SENATE.

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico, also known as "NDI", is celebrating its twenty-fifth year of providing the children of New Mexico with programs that help them develop core skills, self-confidence and critical thinking that set the stage for effective learning in the classroom and success in life; and

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico is serving more than eight thousand five hundred students this school year; and

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico has served one hundred ten thousand children across the state since its inception; and

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children by teaching the "core four": work hard; do your best; never give up; and be healthy; and

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico is founded in the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children; and

     WHEREAS, the purpose of the national dance institute of New Mexico's distinctive programs is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives; and

     WHEREAS, the national dance institute of New Mexico is a public-private partnership that collaborates with federal, state and local government entities; public schools and school districts; businesses; individuals; and foundations to promote a platform for children's success and to develop educated, productive and engaged citizens who will create successful families and communities;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 5, 2019 be proclaimed "NDI New Mexico Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the national dance institute of New Mexico board.
