A MEMORIAL

HONORING NEW MEXICO FIRST RESPONDERS AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND BRAVERY.

 

     WHEREAS, New Mexicans depend on state and local police officers, sheriff's deputies, ambulance drivers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, volunteer firefighters, dispatch operators and other public safety first responders every day to keep them safe from harm; and

     WHEREAS, maintenance crew members of the department of transportation, coroners and medical examiners deal with the tragedy of accidents and deaths every day; and

     WHEREAS, the dedication, bravery and commitment to public service displayed every day and night by these brave men and women is unmatched; and

     WHEREAS, first responder officers unselfishly risk their lives to ensure protection of the rights, privileges, property and safety of the people of New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, sworn to preserve peace, maintain order and prevent and detect crime, first responders never know what challenges and turns of events their days may bring; and

     WHEREAS, first responders are highly trained and skilled professionals who constantly upgrade their certifications and credentials; and

     WHEREAS, the character, determination and selflessness of New Mexico's first responders serve as an inspiration to all New Mexicans; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico's first responders do the jobs and perform the tasks that most residents would never wish to do; and

     WHEREAS, first responders leave their families and loved ones each day to put themselves in harm's way; and

     WHEREAS, every New Mexican owes first responders a debt of gratitude;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that New Mexico first responders be honored for the vital and challenging work they perform; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that appreciation be expressed for the dedication and bravery of New Mexico first responders; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the office of the attorney general, the corrections department, the New Mexico sheriffs' association, the New Mexico state police association, the New Mexico municipal league, the bureau of Indian affairs police, the office of the medical investigators, the department of transportation and the council of university presidents.
