AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF EXTENDING RAIL SERVICE FROM THE GALLUP AREA TO THE FARMINGTON AREA.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the economic development department for expenditure in fiscal year 2021 to determine the cost and potential economic benefit of constructing a railroad between Gallup and a location on state highway 371 within ten miles of Farmington. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2022 shall revert to the general fund.
