AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE TO CONVENE A TASK FORCE TO STUDY AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO IMPLEMENT AN INDEPENDENT REDISTRICTING COMMISSION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Forty thousand dollars ($40,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the secretary of state for expenditure in fiscal year 2021 to convene a task force to study and make recommendations to the legislature on how to implement an independent redistricting commission. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2021 shall revert to the general fund.
