A MEMORIAL

CONGRATULATING CHRISTUS ST. VINCENT REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER ON RECEIVING A FIVE-STAR QUALITY RATING FROM THE FEDERAL CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES.

 

     WHEREAS, in January 2020, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center will receive a five-star quality rating from the federal centers for medicare and medicaid services, the highest quality rating awarded by the agency and the first in the hospital's history; and

     WHEREAS, a deep sense of community and compassion for those in need have driven generations of CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center clinicians to devote their lives to caring for the people of northern New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, from the very young to the very old, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center has brought healing and hope to the community's ill and injured for nearly one hundred fifty-five years; and

     WHEREAS, in recent years, a focus on associate engagement and development has sparked a tremendous cultural shift at CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center, putting the power to transform the quality of care into the hands of those on the front lines; and

     WHEREAS, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center is now recognized as one of New Mexico's best places to work and receive care, with associates reporting high levels of satisfaction regarding work-life balance, compensation, benefits, leadership involvement, communication and opportunities for growth; and

     WHEREAS, among the sixty-plus hospitals and forty-four thousand associates in the CHRISTUS health system, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center has the highest level of associate engagement; and

     WHEREAS, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center associates have made patient safety their number-one priority; and

     WHEREAS, daily safety huddles, annual patient safety fairs, hourly patient rounding, anonymous associate safety surveys and near-miss reporting have significantly reduced the risk of error and injury and represent just a few ways patient safety has been woven into the fabric of the hospital's daily operations; and

     WHEREAS, combining their shared knowledge and expertise, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center nurses and physicians have developed evidence-based protocols for slashing infection rates, improving the safety of medication administration, reducing length of stay for babies born with neonatal abstinence syndrome and much more; and

     WHEREAS, as part of CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center's "journey to always", associates and clinicians work to improve the patient experience at every point of contact, with a promise to each patient that the patient will always be treated with the utmost dignity and respect and that the patient's needs and expectations will always be addressed to the best of the hospital's ability; and

     WHEREAS, through CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center's membership in the Mayo clinic care network, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center patients are able to access world-leading medical expertise at no additional cost and while staying close to home; and

     WHEREAS, to date, more than one hundred sixty patients have received a second opinion from a Mayo clinic specialist through their CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center provider, with nearly all choosing to remain with CHRISTUS St. Vincent for their care; and

     WHEREAS, CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center is proud to serve the dynamic and diverse northern New Mexico community and is thankful for the community leaders, officials, partners and friends who make the work of the hospital and its outpatient clinics possible;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center be congratulated on receiving a five-star quality rating from the federal centers for medicare and medicaid services; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the president of CHRISTUS St. Vincent regional medical center.
