AN ACT

RELATING TO TRIBAL RECOGNITION; ACKNOWLEDGING THE PIRO/MANSO/TIWA INDIAN TRIBE, PUEBLO OF SAN JUAN DE GUADALUPE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] STATE RECOGNITION.--State recognition and acknowledgment are extended to the Piro/Manso/Tiwa Indian tribe, Pueblo of San Juan de Guadalupe, for its continuous history and maintenance of its cultural presence in New Mexico. No laws of the state of New Mexico of general application extended to federally recognized Indian nations, tribes and pueblos shall be applicable to the Piro/Manso/Tiwa Indian tribe, Pueblo of San Juan de Guadalupe, and its members.
