AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH INITIATIVES IN BERNALILLO COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Ten million dollars ($10,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2023 for Bernalillo county, in consultation with the city of Albuquerque, to:

                (1) provide incentives to recruit and retain public safety and behavioral health professionals;

                (2) provide equipment for law enforcement and public safety officials in Bernalillo county for focused deterrence programs, training and community policing initiatives;

                (3) increase funding for mobile school-based health centers in Bernalillo county; and

                (4) expand public housing options in Bernalillo county to support permanent supportive vouchers, single-site housing and transitional living facilities.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2023 shall revert to the general fund.
