A RESOLUTION

AMENDING THE HOUSE RULES TO REQUIRE A VOTE OF TWO-THIRDS FOR CERTAIN MOTIONS TO CONCUR IN SENATE AMENDMENTS.

 

     WHEREAS, House Rule 24-1 provides that the rules of the

house of representatives may be amended by a two-thirds' vote

of all the members of the house or by a majority vote of the

members of the house upon the recommendation of the house rules

and order of business committee;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that a new House Rule 11-24-6 be enacted to read:

"11-24-6  When a bill passed by the house and returned by the senate for concurrence contains an emergency clause, an affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the members present is required for concurrence.".
