AN ACT

RELATING TO ELECTIONS; REQUIRING COUNTY CLERKS TO SEND NOTICES DIRECTING VOTERS INVOLVED IN THE TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY TO SUBMIT AN UPDATE TO THE VOTER'S CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION TO REFLECT THE VOTER'S CHANGED RESIDENCE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] NOTICE DIRECTING UPDATE TO CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION UPON TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY.--Upon recordation in the office of the county clerk of a deed indicating the transfer of ownership of residential property, the county clerk shall send a notice to a voter to whom or from whom ownership of the residential property was transferred, directing the voter to submit an update to the voter's existing certificate of registration or complete a new certificate of registration to reflect the voter's changed residence pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 1, Article 4 NMSA 1978.
