AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO DISTRIBUTE TO SCHOOL DISTRICTS STATEWIDE TO PROVIDE BONUSES TO HEAD VARSITY ATHLETIC COACHES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three million three hundred forty thousand dollars ($3,340,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2024 to distribute to school districts statewide to provide five-thousand-dollar ($5,000) bonuses to each head varsity athletic coach in a public school. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2024 shall revert to the general fund.
