A MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE NEW MEXICO SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER AND DECLARING FEBRUARY 16, 2023 "NEW MEXICO SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER NETWORK DAY" IN THE SENATE.

 

     WHEREAS, small business development is vital to New Mexico's growth and prosperity; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico celebrates the generations of small business owners who embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and the strong work ethic that are the heart and soul of the American dream; and

     WHEREAS, small businesses are the lifeblood of New Mexico, which salutes small business owners, entrepreneurs and employees for enhancing communities, urban and rural, and expanding opportunities for all; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico legislature and the state of New Mexico encourage the continuing development of new small businesses for the wealth of all residents; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico small business development center has been an integral leader in developing small businesses across the state since 1989; and

     WHEREAS, the New Mexico small business development center's assistance to entrepreneurs has contributed to the creation of more than thirty-nine thousand new jobs, one billion two hundred fifty-nine million one hundred seventy thousand forty-six dollars ($1,259,170,046) in capital formation and more than nine thousand seven hundred new businesses;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico small business development center be recognized for its contribution to the state's economy; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that February 16, 2023 be declared "New Mexico Small Business Development Center Network Day" in the senate; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be transmitted to the executive director of the New Mexico small business development center.
