AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO PUBLIC POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS FOR MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVES STATEWIDE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2025 for the following purposes:

                (1) one million nine hundred ninety-two thousand dollars ($1,992,000) to have twenty-four social worker supervisors located at all public post-secondary educational institutions statewide, at the largest community colleges and at Native American post-secondary educational institutions;

                (2) two million two hundred six thousand six hundred dollars ($2,206,600) to have thirty-four case managers located at all branch colleges, remaining community colleges and Native American post-secondary educational institutions;

                (3) one hundred forty thousand six hundred dollars ($140,600) for supplies and equipment for the social worker supervisors and case managers;

                (4) fifty-four thousand dollars ($54,000) for professional development, training and licensing for the social worker supervisors and case managers;

                (5) four million three hundred ninety-three thousand two hundred dollars ($4,393,200) for the development and implementation of a statewide higher education mental health system;

                (6) one million six hundred six thousand eight hundred dollars ($1,606,800) for regular mental health training for resident assistants, staff and faculty at public post-secondary educational institutions; and

                (7) two million dollars ($2,000,000) for the Santa Fe community college for a statewide suicide prevention and training program.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2025 shall revert to the general fund.
