AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES TO PROTECT WATER IN THE STATE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Eight hundred forty thousand dollars ($840,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of environment for expenditure in fiscal year 2025 for the purpose of providing resources to:

                (1) protect water in the state through additional monitoring and enforcement of existing regulations; and

                (2) conduct additional mapping to better understand how changes to the federal Clean Water Act of 1977 affect water in the state.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2025 shall revert to the general fund.
