AN ACT

RELATING TO HOUSING; REQUIRING REGIONAL HOUSING AUTHORITIES TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING PLAN FOR THE FOLLOWING FIVE YEARS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. A new section of the Regional Housing Law is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] AFFORDABLE HOUSING PLAN--REPORTING.--

          A. Starting on January 1, 2025 and every fifth year thereafter, each regional housing authority shall develop an affordable housing plan, which shall include:

                (1) an assessment of the affordable housing availability in the region;

                (2) the projected need for affordable housing in the region for a five-year period; and

                (3) strategies that the regional housing authority plans on implementing to increase the availability of affordable housing based on the projected need by the end of that five-year period.

          B. By December 1, 2025 and on December 1 of every year thereafter, each regional housing authority shall present that region's strategic housing plan and progress in implementing the plan to the Mortgage Finance Authority Act oversight committee."
