0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY, LITERACY

0013|     PROGRAMS AND DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAMS AT CERTAIN ALBUQUERQUE

0014|     PUBLIC SCHOOLS LOCATED IN BERNALILLO COUNTY; DECLARING AN
    |
0015|     EMERGENCY.

0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0019|            A.  Two hundred sixteen thousand dollars ($216,000)
    |
0020|     is appropriated from the general fund to the state department of
    |
0021|     public education for expenditure in fiscal years 1996 and 1997
    |
0022|     for the purpose of purchasing computers, software and related
    |
0023|     equipment for literacy and dropout prevention programs for
    |
0024|     certain Albuquerque public schools located in Bernalillo county. 
    |
0025|     The appropriation shall be distributed to the following schools
    |
0001|     in the following amounts:
    |
0002|                 (1)  seventy-eight thousand dollars ($78,000) to
    |
0003|     Washington middle school;
    |
0004|                 (2)  thirty-two thousand dollars ($32,000) to
    |
0005|     Dolores Gonzales elementary school;
    |
0006|                 (3)  forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) to
    |
0007|     Armijo elementary school;
    |
0008|                 (4)  twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to
    |
0009|     Lowell elementary school;
    |
0010|                 (5)  ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to Eugene
    |
0011|     Field elementary school; and
    |
0012|                 (6)  twenty-six thousand dollars ($26,000) to
    |
0013|     Valley Vista elementary school.
    |
0014|            B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0015|     at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0016|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0017|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
