0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND A STUDY REGARDING THE CREATION

0013|     OF A VOICE, DATA AND VIDEO COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK FOR THE

0014|     LEGISLATURE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN APPROACH FOR

0015|     TECHNOLOGICALLY LINKING ALL STATE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.

0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand
    |
0019|     dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0020|     legislative council service for expenditure in fiscal years 1997
    |
0021|     and 1998 to fund a study, including a review of solutions that
    |
0022|     will provide substantial cost savings, increased productivity
    |
0023|     and improved communications, regarding the creation of a voice
    |
0024|     and data communications network to enhance the interchange of
    |
0025|     information between the legislature and constituents and
    |
0001|     developing options for reducing state communications
    |
0002|     expenditures by networking all voice, data and video
    |
0003|     communications among all state agencies.  Any unexpended or
    |
0004|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998
    |
0005|     shall revert to the general fund.
