0012|     REQUESTING WAIVER OF A POLICY OF THE STATE HIGHWAY AND

0013|     TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO INSTALL A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE

0014|     INTERSECTION OF SOUTH MEADOWS AND AIRPORT ROAD IN SANTA FE.

0016|       WHEREAS, Ortiz middle school and Sweeney elementary school
    |
0017|     are located near the intersection of South Meadows and Airport
    |
0018|     road; and
    |
0019|       WHEREAS, as many as one thousand three hundred 
    |
0020|     schoolchildren use this intersection; and
    |
0021|       WHEREAS, a traffic study by the state highway and
    |
0022|     transportation department indicates that between twenty thousand
    |
0023|     and thirty thousand vehicles go through this intersection and
    |
0024|     substantiates that a traffic light is warranted; and
    |
0025|       WHEREAS, the traffic signal will be installed at no expense
    |
0001|     to the state;
    |
0002|       NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
    |
0003|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway and transportation
    |
0004|     department be requested to install a traffic signal at the
    |
0005|     intersection of South Meadows and Airport road in Santa Fe; and
    |
0006|       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
    |
0007|     transmitted to the secretary of highway and transportation.
