0012|     EXPRESSING THE SORROW AND CONDOLENCE OF THE LEGISLATURE AT THE
    |
0013|     DEATH OF FORMER SENATOR EDMUNDO R. DELGADO.

0015|       WHEREAS, Edmundo R. Delgado passed away July 3, 1995 at the
    |
0016|     age of sixty-two in his home in Santa Fe; and
    |
0017|       WHEREAS, Edmundo is survived by his wife Linda and four
    |
0018|     children, Mark, James, Stephanie and Melinda; and
    |
0019|       WHEREAS, Edmundo was a member of the house of
    |
0020|     representatives for two years and of the senate for six years;
    |
0021|     and
    |
0022|       WHEREAS, he worked in radio, television, advertising and
    |
0023|     public relations, and he counted among his best achievements the
    |
0024|     creation of the New Mexico law enforcement academy and the film
    |
0025|     commission; and
    |
0001|       WHEREAS, Edmundo was nationally recognized when he won the
    |
0002|     1980 businessman of the year award from the United States
    |
0003|     Hispanic chamber of commerce; and
    |
0004|       WHEREAS, he was a research associate at the university of
    |
0005|     New Mexico's center for Southwest research and Spanish colonial
    |
0006|     research center and he wrote for and edited the New Mexico blue
    |
0007|     book; and
    |
0008|       WHEREAS, he was a tireless promoter of New Mexico and its
    |
0009|     Spanish heritage and was devoted to molding the state's diverse
    |
0010|     ethnic groups into a better union; and
    |
0011|       WHEREAS, Edmundo was known as a great storyteller, and
    |
0012|     shortly before his death he said, "It's important to keep our
    |
0013|     stories alive, it's our stories that survive us all";
    |
0014|       NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
    |
0015|     STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Edmundo Delgado's stories be remembered
    |
0016|     and his presence among and inspiration to us never be forgotten;
    |
0017|     that his devotion to his state and heritage be honored and
    |
0018|     continued by us, his colleagues and proteges; and that his
    |
0019|     legacy be respected for the ideals he strove to fulfill in his
    |
0020|     service to the state and all of its people; and
    |
0021|       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislature hereby extend
    |
0022|     its heartfelt condolence and deepest sympathy to Linda and the
    |
0023|     family and friends of Edmundo; he is missed by us all; and
    |
0024|       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0025|     transmitted to his wife Linda and his children.
