0012|     PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 4, SECTION 10 OF THE

0013|     CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO TO PROVIDE LEGISLATIVE PER DIEM AND

0014|     MILEAGE AT AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED RATES ALLOWED BY THE INTERNAL
    |
0015|     REVENUE SERVICE.

0017|     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0018|       Section 1.  It is proposed to amend Article 4, Section 10
    |
0019|     of the constitution of New Mexico to read:
    |
0020|            "A.  Each member of the legislature shall receive
    |
0021|            [A.  as per diem expense the sum of not more than
    |
0022|     seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for each day's attendance during
    |
0023|     each session, as provided by law, and twenty-five cents ($.25)
    |
0024|     for each mile traveled in going to and returning from the seat
    |
0025|     of government by the usual traveled route, once each session as
    |
0001|     defined by Article 4, Section 5 of this constitution;] per
    |
0002|     diem at the internal revenue service per diem rate for the city
    |
0003|     of Santa Fe for each day's attendance during each session as
    |
0004|     defined by Article 4, Section 5 of the constitution of New
    |
0005|     Mexico and the internal revenue service standard mileage rate
    |
0006|     for each actual mile traveled in going to and returning from the
    |
0007|     seat of government by the usual traveled route for each week of
    |
0008|     a session as defined by Article 4, Section 5 of the constitution
    |
0009|     of New Mexico.
    |
0010|            B.  Each member of the legislature shall receive
    |
0011|     per diem expense and mileage at the same rates as provided in
    |
0012|     Subsection A of this section for service at meetings required by
    |
0013|     legislative committees established by the legislature to meet in
    |
0014|     the interim between sessions [and].
    |
0015|            C.  Each member of the legislature shall receive no
    |
0016|     other compensation, perquisite or allowance."
    |
0017|       Section 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution shall
    |
0018|     be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at
    |
0019|     the next general election or at any special election prior to
    |
0020|     that date which may be called for that purpose.
