0012| MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015| Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--
|
0016| A. Seven million dollars ($7,000,000) or the amount
|
0017| remaining in the event a reduction is made pursuant to
|
0018| Subsection B of this section, is appropriated from the general
|
0019| fund to the state department of public education for expenditure
|
0020| in fiscal year 1997 for distribution through state equalization
|
0021| guarantee distribution for the purpose of increasing public
|
0022| school support.
|
0023| B. If the superintendent of public instruction
|
0024| determines that the public school capital outlay council has
|
0025| agreed to consider the application of the Pecos school district
|
0001| for grant assistance from the public school capital outlay fund
|
0002| for the 1996-1997 school year, then fifteen percent of the seven
|
0003| million dollar ($7,000,000) appropriation set forth in
|
0004| Subsection A of this section is appropriated to the public
|
0005| school capital outlay fund for expenditure in fiscal year 1997.
|
0006| C. One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated
|
0007| from the general fund to the state department of public
|
0008| education for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 for the purpose of
|
0009| meeting capital outlay costs associated with the opening of two
|
0010| new middle schools in the Rio Rancho school district.
|
0011| D. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
|
0012| at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
