AN ACT
RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE;
MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE SPECIAL CONGRESSIONAL ELECTION
IN THE THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000)
is appropriated from the general fund to the secretary of
state for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 to pay expenses
incurred by the secretary of state in conducting a special
congressional election in the third congressional district.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
B. Five hundred forty-seven thousand dollars
($547,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
secretary of state for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 to
distribute the appropriate amounts to the county clerks of the
counties in the third congressional district to pay expenses
incurred by the counties in conducting a special congressional
election in the third congressional district. Any unexpended
or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year
1997 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
