0003| QUALIFICATIONS FOR CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS OF THE DEPARTMENT; ENACTING A

0004| NEW SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978.

0006| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0007|      Section 1.  CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS--CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES
    |
0008| DEPARTMENT--QUALIFICATIONS.--Correctional officers of the children,
    |
0009| youth and families department shall:
    |
0010|           A.  be citizens of the United States;
    |
0011|           B.  be eighteen years of age or older;
    |
0012|           C.  possess a high school education or its equivalent; 
    |
0013|           D.  be of good moral character and not have been convicted
    |
0014| of a felony offense by a court of this state, any other state or the
    |
0015| United States; and
    |
0016|           E.  successfully pass a physical examination and an aptitude
    |
0017| examination administered by the department.
    |
0018|      Section 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
    |
0019| provisions of this act is July 1, 1997.
