0006| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0007|      Section 1.  INTERSTATE ESCORT SERVICES--INSURANCE COVERAGE--STATE
    |
0008| TAXES.--
    |
0009|           A.  An interstate highway escort service business shall
    |
0010| register with the state corporation commission and submit proof to the
    |
0011| commission that the highway escort business has at least one million
    |
0012| dollars ($1,000,000) in insurance coverage.  The interstate highway
    |
0013| escort business shall be required to maintain the insurance coverage
    |
0014| in effect at all times it is doing business in New Mexico.  An
    |
0015| interstate highway escort business shall be subject to New Mexico
    |
0016| state taxes.

0017|           B.  For the purpose of this section, "escort service"
    |
0018| means a person or other legal entity that operates one or more
    |
0019| vehicles in the escort of wide loads or other extraordinary
    |
0020| vehicular traffic for the purpose of providing a warning of
    |
0021| potential hazards associated with the wide load or other
    |
0022| extraordinary vehicle.
