0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO RECRUIT AND ASSIST TEACHERS WHO WISH

0012|     TO OBTAIN NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand
    |
0016|     dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0017|     state department of public education for expenditure in fiscal
    |
0018|     year 1998 for the purpose of recruiting and assisting qualified
    |
0019|     New Mexico teachers who wish to become certified by the
    |
0020|     national board for professional teaching standards.  No more
    |
0021|     than four percent of this appropriation may be used for
    |
0022|     administrative costs incurred by the department.  Any
    |
0023|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0024|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
