  Mr. Speaker:
  
       Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
  
                        HOUSE BILL 41
  
  has had it under consideration and reports same with
  recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
  
       1.  On page 1, line 13, after the semicolon insert "CHANGING
  THE COST OF ALLOWED SERVICE CREDIT FOR TIME SPENT IN THE MILITARY OR
  PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE;".
  
       2.  On page 4, line 4, after "actuarial" insert "present".
  
       3.  On page 4, line 8, strike "and".
  
       4.  On page 4, line 10, strike the period and insert in lieu
  thereof "; and".
  
       5.  On page 4, between lines 10 and 11, insert:
  
                 "(4)  service credit may not be purchased for

  periods of service in the peace corps that are used to obtain or
  increase a benefit from another retirement program.".
     
       6.  On page 6, line 21, after "to" strike the remainder of the
  line and all of lines 22 through 25.
  
       7.  On page 7, strike lines 1 and 2 and through the period on
  line 3 and insert in lieu thereof "the actuarial value of the
  service as defined by the board.".
  
       8.  On page 7, line 4, after "employer" strike the remainder
  of the line and all of lines 5 through 8 and insert in lieu thereof
  a semicolon.,
  
  and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE
  COMMITTEE.
