APPROPRIATION.-- | 0017| A. One million six hundred thirty-nine thousand one | 0018| hundred dollars ($1,639,100) is appropriated from the general | 0019| fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico | 0020| for expenditure in fiscal year 1998 in the following amounts | 0021| for the following purposes: | 0022| (1) three hundred eighty-nine thousand five | 0023| hundred dollars ($389,500) to hire additional staff to support | 0024| research objectives at the health sciences center; | 0025| (2) three hundred eighty-one thousand five | 0001| hundred dollars ($381,500) to continue and expand the | 0002| enrollment of the certified nurse-midwifery program at the | 0003| health sciences center; | 0004| (3) four hundred six thousand dollars | 0005| ($406,000) for equipment costs and additional staff for the | 0006| telemedicine program; | 0007| (4) one hundred two thousand eight hundred | 0008| dollars ($102,800) to fund additional staff positions and other | 0009| costs for the nurse distance education program; and | 0010| (5) three hundred fifty-nine thousand three | 0011| hundred dollars ($359,300) for coordinating and increasing | 0012| support for area health education programs. | 0013| B.
