0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO

0012|     MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING PROGRAM.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars
    |
0016|     ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board
    |
0017|     of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in
    |
0018|     fiscal year 1998 for the purpose of supporting the
    |
0019|     manufacturing training and technology center cleanroom and
    |
0020|     semiconductor manufacturing process training of the
    |
0021|     university's manufacturing engineering program.  Any unexpended
    |
0022|     or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year
    |
0023|     1998 shall revert to the general fund.

0019|        1.   On page 1, lines 15 and 16, strike "Five hundred

0020|   thousand dollars ($500,000)" and insert in lieu thereof "Four
    |
0021|   hundred seventy five thousand dollars ($475,000)".

0023|        2.   On page 1, line 21, after the period insert:

0025|        "The appropriation is contingent upon equipment donations by
    |
0001|   industry valued at one million five hundred thousand dollars
    |
0002|   ($1,500,000) and upon the development of a plan by the

0003|   manufacturing training and technology center that includes
    |
0004|   training of statewide community college semiconductor
    |
0005|   manufacturing technicians pursuant to a recent memorandum of
    |
0006|   understanding between the university of New Mexico and the
    |
0007|   Albuquerque technical-vocational institute.".,
