SHORT TITLE.--This act may be cited as the | 0016| "Health Care Facility Security Act". | 0017| Section 2. DEFINITION.--As used in the Health Care | 0018| Facility Security Act, "health care facility" means a public or | 0019| private place where a health care worker performs health care | 0020| services and includes hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, | 0021| dentists' offices and any private premises in which a health | 0022| care worker is actually performing a health care service. | 0023| Section 3. DETENTION BY SECURITY OFFICER.--If a special | 0024| or security officer has probable cause to believe that a person | 0025| has committed a crime at a health care facility, the officer | 0001| may take the suspected person into custody and detain him in a | 0002| reasonable manner for a reasonable amount of time pending | 0003| arrival of a law enforcement officer. Upon receiving the | 0004| report of the special or security officer and investigating the | 0005| complaint, the law enforcement officer may take the detained | 0006| person into custody. | 0007|  |
